A hand-coloured woodcut of a young woman sitting at her toilette in her underclothes having her corset unlaced by a foul old man with pointed, vampire-like teeth. A verse is printed below: 'So an old man's darling you would be, / To have the dotard wait on thee; / That he can wait for you 'tis plain, / But you may wait for him in vain. / Better be a young man's slave / Than such a helpless HELPMATE have. / What joy in marriage can there be, / 'Tween such as him and such as thee.'. A printed image of a child's head cut and pasted from another source has been placed between the woman's legs. This intentional defacement of the original image occurs in several cheap comic woodcuts found in the 'Chamberlain envelope', which have additional text or imagery cut and pasted into the original and/or imagined speech (often very lewd in content) added in the form of graphite inscriptions written in the same hand (not Glaishers). Glaisher presumably bought these as a group from another collection.
