When the paper is unfolded into a larger square, the division into eight sections with diamond cutwork along the creases is apparent. On the inside of the square, each of the eight sections is illustrated with a medallion featuring an image of a young woman, sometimes with a young man, with verses to accompany: Image of man proposing to woman; \"I AM THINE, / FOREVER, FOR EVER, / OH! BE / THOU MINE, / TO PART, / LOVE, / NEVER.\" Each medallion is framed by entwining stems and flowers.
